Last night we went to a restaurant called Everest that serves Indian and Nepalese food. It’s delicious, friendly, and cheap and we’re regulars. The decor is well designed with subdued lighting and small statues on shelves and around the booths. The walls are a bright turquoise, but its not garish partly because of the dim lighting, and partly because silk wall hangings and posters of Nepal and the Himalayans are on the walls. When we first started going, about three years ago, the clientèle was mostly foreigners like us. Since then we’ve noticed ratio of foreigners to Koreans steadily equalize and now there are definitely more Koreans than foreign types. Gin has recommended the restaurant to a few Korean colleagues and they say they love it too.

We were at this lovely restaurant for an impromptu farewell party for our friend Glen who is returning to Australia for a few months before he moves to Japan with his partner. Glen’s a great fellow, who not only helped me buy my best bespoke suit, also has a real talent for making fruit punches. I’ll miss him.
