In which the travelers recommend a lovely dish

Today was pretty uneventful. Our biggest missions once again involved the tailors and cobblers of Hoi An. We had to pick up all our clothes from the tailors in the early afternoon, so we headed over after a leisurely morning and a great lunch (if you are even in Hoi An you have to try the local specialty: fried wontons aka heaven on a plate!). We tried on all our clothes again to make sure that the proper adjustments had been made. Trying on wool coats and suits in 35 degree heat extreme humidity is no fun at all. The lining kept sticking to our clammy skin, and all our new clothes will need a thorough washing to get the sweat out! All of Ric’s stuff looked great, but a few of Gin’s things needed a few more minor adjustments. We could pick them up later that afternoon.

Next we headed to the cobblers, where Gin’s black leather boots were being made. She tried them on, and found that they would need some major adjustments in the calves and ankles. The woman seemed competent to fix them though, so hopefully they’ll be okay tomorrow. While we were at the shoe shop, Ric decided that he’d like a new pair of boots too. His are ankle-height brown leather boots that should look great, and be ready tomorrow.

After traipsing around town for a while we headed back to the tailors, where Gin did one final sweaty fitting. Finally everything was fitting perfectly so we got it all packed up and took it home. The question now is how we’ll fit everything in our bags when it’s time to leave Hoi An!
