In which the travelers risk death through starvation
Today was pretty laid-back, which was perfect. We woke up, ate breakfast, and lounged about the hotel for a few hours. Eventually we got hungry again, so we wandered down the beach to a restaurant overlooking the water that was recommended to us by a departing traveler as the best combination of cheap and delicious food. He failed to mentioned that they also took your order as only a suggestion of what they would make for you: our Tiger beer became Heineken, Gin’s chicken and vegetables morphed into pork, and Ric’s vegetable curry metamorphed into… well, we’re not sure, but it was only vaguely related to curry. On the plus side, we were right beside a kite surfing shop, so we got to watch them setting up and launching the kites. The kites look like giant bat wings when they are close to you, and the spines that give it its structure are inflated plastic tubes (light weight, stiff, and buoyant).
In the evening we got trapped watching movies on TV (we get three dedicated movie channels!), and so waited until it was too late for dinner. Gin seems okay with the skipped meal, but Ric is pretty sure he’s risking certain death.
