In which the travelers kill time
We didn’t have much left in Phnom Penh that we wanted to see, but we couldn’t leave today because the Vietnamese Embassy still had our passports. Since they wouldn’t be ready until 6pm we had to hang around, but we’d be ready to go tomorrow.
Since our computer had broken (again) the day before yesterday at least we had something to do. We headed to the nearest internet cafe (next door to our hotel) to try to fix it. Though the connection was painfully slow we managed to figure out a solution to the problems we were having. This time we managed to fix the computer without having to restore all the factory settings which was wonderful. While Ric was doing all this work Gin tried to find us a way home to Canada next month. Our trip will finish in Hanoi, Vietnam on July 15th and we need to figure out how we’ll get home from there. While searching Gin found a ticket with Air Canada from Hong Kong to Vancouver for under $400! Score! Now the question was how to get from Hanoi to Hong Kong. She went and did some research, figured out a reasonable to get there, and then went back to Air Canada’s website to check the cheap flight again… what!!? It was gone!! *@&$!! It seems that there were limited seats at that price and during Gin’s research other people bought them all. Blast! So back to the drawing board, and we still have no flight back to Canada.
Gin would have kept looking for a ticket but the internet suddenly stopped working completely. All the locals in the internet cafe were gone within moments, and we quickly followed suit. We went to find Jesse and Janelle so we could book bus tickets for the next day to Siem Reap, where we’ll see the Angkor Wat temple complex, among other things. After that we headed out for our last dinner in Phnom Penh, then went home to bed early.
