A Post

In which the travelers make their eyes turn rectangular

Everything went smoothly this morning; we got up, stumbled our way down the hill to the bus terminal, boarded the bus, and fell back asleep until we arrived in KL. The bus dropped us off at the usual location, near our preferred hotel, the Citin. As we walked in, we witnessed some Malaysian man screaming at the woman behind the desk. She remained polite, and the doorman gently escorted the man and his family out. Being our turn, we asked for a room and the woman threw up her hands in exasperation. She told us they didn’t have any rooms, and that was the reason for the previous fellow’s outburst. We assured her that we would not be yelling at her, and as we left, the manager suggested we try our luck at a nearby hotel. We walked there, but they too had no rooms available. The manager suggested their sister hotel, and not only did he call ahead for us, he also sent one of his staff to escort us there! This hotel is definitely more budget than we prefer: our room may have been cleaned once in the last several guests, and there is a small pile of candy wrappers beside the bed. But it is a room with a double bed, and we need a place to stay for the night.

Our lodging squared away, we went out for a bite to eat, then visited our second home in KL: the cyber cafe. We had several things to do for our future jobs, our travel plans for the next months, and of course two weeks of backlog on our blog. Despite spending five hours on two computers, we still have more to do! But we sent out a bunch of emails, and uploaded a bunch of photos, and we continued to develop a bunch of plans for where we are going next and when we’ll get there.

Off to bed now: tomorrow we bid farewell to Malaysia, and fly to Indonesia!
