A Post

In which the travelers are joined by Andrea and Phil.

We woke up excited: sometime today we’d have Andrea and Phil joining us. We wandered down the beach to a restaurant we hadn’t sampled yet, and ordered their muesli. Although it gained a few points for style, being presented in a fancy porcelain bowl, it lost points for both difficulty in eating, and general dryness. The pieces of watermelon still contained seeds, which in itself isn’t surprising (only the most premium grade of muesli contains de-seeded watermelon), however the watermelon was buried under the yogurt and other fruit; this necessitated an annoying excavation and seed extraction process that generally detracted from the ease and pleasure of the experience. Further, the wet-dry ratio needed to be remeasured: there was too little yogurt for the amount of fruit and grain.

After breakfast we walked down the beach toward our favourite haunt at the Klapa Klum bar/restaurant. We choose a shady palm hut facing the beach and ocean, reckoning that Andrea and Phil would likely walk by on this strip of sand sometime in the day. We settled in to wait for them and read our books. A few chapters later, Gin decided to tempt the gods and work on her tan; she baked in the sun for ten whole minutes on each side. Ric sat by, stopwatch in hand, to ensure the operation concluded safely.

Several hours passed, and we gave up waiting for Andrea and Phil. We checked our email, looking for messages from them, and returned home to shower and relax in front of our air-conditioner.

Gin took the blammock outside for some quality time writing on the blog. Just as she sat down, Phil and Andrea strolled up the sidewalk! We invited them in and chatted for hours catching up on several years of Andrea’s life, and getting to know Phil. Finally, when we could ignore our rumbling stomachs no longer, we walked to a restaurant for a late dinner.
