In which the travelers no longer need to leave the island

Today we were going to find a ferry to Krabi to go meet our friend Andrea and her partner Phil there. Unfortunately when we checked Facebook this morning we still hadn’t gotten a message telling us where they were. We confirmed with the woman working at the reception in our hotel that we could book a ferry anytime before 7pm, and decided to put off packing and planning, and just go to the beach instead.

After tuna sandwiches and coffee shakes for breakfast we decided headed off to find a more comfortable place to hang out for the day. We decided to return to the Klapa Klum bar/restaurant that we went to last night. There we found a great bed-like table where we could lounge about in the sunshine and read our books, punctuated by multiple swims in the ocean where Ric practiced his beached whale routine. He sits just a couple meters into the ocean where it is still very shallow, and where the waves coming into shore will crash right on top of him. Usually this just results in an entertaining rush of water over his head, but occasionally things get away from him and he ends up sprawled on his back with sand in his shorts. Still, it seems to be one of his favorite things to do…

Once we’d finished sunbathing and playing for the day we went off to check Facebook one more time looking for a message from Andrea. We had decided that we were going to book the ferry to Krabi even if we hadn’t heard from her, but there was a message from her, and guess what… Andrea and Phil are coming here to Koh Lanta tomorrow! We’ll get to see them and hang out with them for a few days, and we don’t even have to pack! Yay!

Predictably, after hours in the sunshine one of us ended up with a nasty sunburn. You think it was Gin, right? Nope, she put on sunscreen and is just fine thank you. Ric, on the other hand, doesn’t like sunscreen because ‘it’s slimy’ and now will be suffering the consequences (including his wife’s teasing) for the next several days.
