A Post

Tonight I figured out how to change my blog’s theme. I was wandering around on WordPress Planet and found a nice little theme called HeyLucy. I think it is nice enough to look at, and it has that cool looking box for the blog date (see the box that says Dec 17th? I’m not sure how to make it do that). I’m planning on learning how to change the colors so it matches the teaching portfolio that Gin and I made (er… I mean, are making). I’m not sure if the two will actually be connected in any way; I don’t know if I want my potential employers to read all my rambling thoughts and insecurities. But it will be good practice.

Just a thought on the potential employers reading your thoughts and insecurities. I can see it as being both a very valuable and important addition to your resume/teaching portfolio and also an issue or detrimental one. I think if you maybe go half and half and if you have written and blogged on a particular educational issue and had some responses from other people you may want to have employers have access to this. This shows that you are a dedicated teacher and also committed to your profession etc etc. Outside of school still looking for answers. It also limits the random Birdism’s that I for one might understand but someone who has never met you might be going???????

For example I would like your input on this topic at some point.

How do you intrinsically motivate students in grade 9 when they know that they could drop out at any time and not face any repercussions from parents. They have known this since grade 1 and have coasted and coasted.

Thanks for the invite to the blog- I am sure my mundane stuff would interest you. Ie- I am home from school today because Quynne is getting her 4 first immunization shots. The last time Jenny saw someone get needles she fainted. So today is a support Jenny day as our 2 month old gets jabbed. Quynne I am sure will be fine.

I really like this format of communicating because I can keep up with you which is important and this is easy.

more comments to come I am sure.
